my opinion about this quote is that goodness can be shown in many ways and of course it can be typically be shown by you just "doing" something but that doesn't always have to be the case, it can also be shown by emotions and not only by actions but anyways some example of what i am trying to say is that lets say you dont have anything to give neither anything to receive and someone really needs some help emotionally and again back to you, i mean of course you want to help them (i dont know if you really do psh for all i know you can be heartless) anyways you want to help the person in anyway possible bu you have no more items to give, by this point stop thinking about the stuff or things you can give them just god please stop. what you have to do is think "who how does one help someone?" no im jk but really ask yourself this "how does this person feel?" "how did their day go?" "what should i say?" all those things okay? but no matter how many questions you ask you wont get them answered just like that stop thinking and start moving just go to the person and help them as an emotional support
